Morning! How’s your day going so far?
I got up and out for a little run this morning. I’ve found that my Tuesday runs are the hardest. I seem to need to walk more and am slower than I am on Thursday and Saturday. I have no clue why, but I just truck along, taking walking breaks when I need to. Is running hard while pregnant? Well, yes and no. I’m such in the habit of exercising it’s pretty easy for me to get out of the door. Is it physically HARD? It’s challenging, but I’m running slow so it’s not like I’m huffing and puffing. Some days are better than others, that’s for sure. But the key for me is to stay flexible in my running plans, walk when I need to and just feel good.
Anyway, tangent.
I have been loving pizza in my pregnancy. Well, honestly, I’ve always loved pizza but I didn’t eat it *that* much. Maybe 1-2x a month. Now since I’m embracing my wants I’ve been eating pizza about 1 time a week. When I say pizza, I mean homemade pizza, by the way. I just prefer my homemade pizza to a pizza place’s pizza. I’ve been switching it up with toppings, making flat breads, different sauces, etc, so I don’t get bored.
I wanted to share my recipe for pizza dough today since I’ve been making it umm…a lot. I make it in my bread machine, but you could make it in a mixer or by hand as well.
Ingredients I put these ingredients in the bread machine in the order listed and hit pizza dough. It really is so super easy.
1 1/3 cup of hot water
1 tsp honey
2 tsp sea salt
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
3 3/4 cup whole wheat flour*
2 1/4 tsp yeast
*Depending on how I’m feeling, sometimes I’ll use 1/2 spelt flour, 1/2 whole wheat. If I’m getting really creative, I’ll use some quinoa or chickpea flour (up to about 1/2 cup) just to add a different flavor to the dough. It slightly changes the texture of the dough, but it’s delicious.
One pizza I’ve been loving lately:
Ingredients Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out your pizza dough on a pizza pan or pizza stone. Bake pizza dough for 15 minutes. Remove dough from oven and sprinkle with cheese. Bake for 5 more minutes. While cheese is melting, chop your veggies for your topping. Remove pizza from oven and top with greens first and then your veggies. Sprinkle with oregano, sea salt and pepper. Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and enjoy!
For me, this pizza is amazing. I’m certainly not all about gorging while pregnant and I feel like making my own pizza is a balance between eating healthy whole grain food & indulging.
What meal have you been loving lately?

Oh yes!!! I needed a good recipe for homemade pizza dough! I cheat and buy it from a local Italian store…but would really love to be making it from scratch. I’m with you – I much prefer homemade pizza over anything else. I made 3 little ones last week in order to use up some of the leftovers in the fridge (bbq chicken, vodka sauce, fresh mozz, etc)…so it serves two purposes for me!! And I’ve been craving it too – I think a lot has to do with the cheese for me!!
I don’t know why I’ve been putting off making my own pizza dough for so long. Oh yeah… I’m lazy.
Perhaps I’ll get around to it though sooner than later.
Your recipe is very similar to one we use regularly for pizza night. I love the idea of putting salad toppings on a pizza. Yum!
You’re always balanced in your eating choices. Definitely listen to your cravings. That baby sure must enjoy your cooking.
Homemade pizza can be much healthier and tastier than bought. Yours looks delish!

I’ve been hearing so much about salad pizzas recently. I really need to try one, that looks deeeeeeelicious
I’ll have to try your pizza dough recipe out. It sounds delicious. Usually I just use tortilla shells, or bisquick mix… but it never hurts to switch it up
. Enjoy all the pizza you want girl, don’t want to upset the little baby inside of you.
I haven’t particulary been loving just one exact meal. Pretty much anything with chicken and vegetables. Can never go wrong there!

It’s weird to think that I went years without eating pizza and now that pizza at home is really the only choice for all of us, we eat it all the time and LOVE it. We all now prefer homemade pizza! Pizza salad is my favorite!
It seems your pizza is very delicious. I haven’t try eating homemade pizza. Your pizza looks so unique.
