Core Fusion Sport and SoulCycle Bands Class!

by Nicole on August 9, 2010

Lazy Monday and I’m SO okay with it. I’ve been running around like a mad person for the past couple of days so I am so ready to take a day to relax, straighten up and clean, not to mention work on my blog. I’ve been emailing with Ryan from ReviveMyBlog to workout my blog revival. I am SO, SO excited to see how it all turns out. I am so lucky and appreciative to have won this blog makeover.

Anyways, in going over what I would like to see on my blog, I realized I never reviewed 2 classes I have recently been to, so I figured, better late than never right???

Two weeks ago I went to Core Fusion Sport at Exhale Spa. I went to the Midtown (Central Park South) location. The description of the class from the website is:

CORE FUSIONĀ® SPORT

Core FusionĀ® Sport is a total body workout that is designed to help you improve your performance in sports while reducing your risk of sports related injuries.

Using a combination of lateral and twisting movements, this barreless one-hour class will chisel and firm your arms, shoulders, legs and butt while focusing on your core – the center of your strength. This calorie-burning cardio class works with resistance bands, core balls, and mat abdominals with periodic jump backs for cardio and stamina benefits. Balanced flexibility exercises at the end will cool you down and increase your range of movement for sports. We hold this class in a slightly elevated temperature room with motivating music, so be prepared to sweat and work out with a passion!

I was a little intimated to go into this class, but as soon as I walked into Exhale Spa I was greeted by 2 friendly people, who showed me around the space. The locker rooms were super clean and nice. I love when they provide locks for you and Exhale Spa did. I went into the class and was helped by another instructor to get what I needed for the class, which was a band and a ball.

The class went through moves that kept your heart rate up and kept you challenged in a fun way. There were different series was involved jumping, squats, lunges and other moves that made your entire body BURN. Even as a newbie to the class, I felt like it was very easy to catch on to the moves. My favorite series was doing push ups on the medicine ball. The instructor led us though different types of push ups and you could modify (go on your knees) if you needed to. The instructor would go around and encourage you and help you get in the right position if you were a little off. My intimidation immediately disappeared when the class started. This was an amazing full body workout and I really look forward to trying out different Core Fusion classes.

SoulCycle Bands Class:

The other class I went to was SoulCycle bands class. This is another incredible class at the Tribeca location. It is an hour class that combines the spinning with resistance bands that hang down from the ceiling. The class starts off with spinning and transitions between working with the bands and going back to spinning about 3-4 times. The resistance bands do a great job of working your abs, obliques, biceps, triceps, back, chest and shoulders. There are 2 different types of bands, grey and black, one is easier than the other. You pull on the bands in different ways, while still pedaling the spin bike to give you a total body workout. You WILL feel the burn. This is another class filled with motivating music and encouraging instructors. I really, really, love this class and if you have an hour to take this class, then go for it. It will not disappoint. You will leave the class having worked hard and very SWEATY.

What is your favorite class of late??
