More Reebok Fun at Reebok Headquarters!

by Nicole on May 15, 2012

Morning! Why does it feel like Thursday already? Bad news, because it’s only Tuesday.

I’m up and cranky because I’ve had not good sleep for two days because of back pain. I’ll get over it and may go for a visit to the chiropractor to help me out.

So what’s to talk about today? Well I am pretty excited to share with you all the amazing things we learned at Reebok Headquarters when we were there. I have to admit I was pretty psyched to get new sneakers because I was guilty of wearing my running sneakers everyday, every time I worked out. I know that’s not the best for cross training, but I did it anyway. Now I have two different types of sneakers to wear, depending on what I’m doing.

Reebok has an ultimate goal of being the face of fitness. To start to do this they partnered with Crossfit for a 10 year partnership. They have designed shoes and clothes specifically for Crossfit and they are awesome. (The clothes can obviously be worn for other workouts as well.)

We met many different people over at Reebok and each one of them were super knowledgeable and open to what we had to say and our input. We learned about foot type from Kate Young, U.S. Women’s Merchandising Manager. Do you know your foot type? If not, just step in water and then walk across newspaper. From there you can see if you have a flat arch, high arch or normal arch. (Most people are “normal” obviously.)

The two types of shoes we got were Reebok Real Flex and the Zig Nano. The real flex is their most popular shoe. It mimics natural movement of the foot with all of the nodes to help the foot move. It has 360 degrees of flexibility. You basically can do anything in this shoe from run 3-4 miles, do cross training, HIIT, weight training, etc.  The Zig Nano are a run or walking shoe. It basically works like a slinky, traveling energy from back to front.

I’ve tried out both shoes and I love them both. I’ll be wearing the Zigs when I go for walks and the Real Flex when I cross train (classes, elliptical, etc).

We also got to see the amazing technology behind the shoe and see the 3D printers. It was pretty amazing to see what they can make right there.

So all in all our day was amazing. Between CrossFit, Cardio Dance, amazing lunch, learning about new technology, meeting other bloggers and the awesome clothes and shoes we got it was a perfectly eventful day. I am so grateful to have been a part of the day.

That is WAY too cool that you got to learn and see all of the science behind the types of shoes! Something I would completely nerd out over!
