22 Week Pregnancy Update!

by Nicole on June 20, 2012

Happy Wednesday! This morning I was at the farmer’s market until 1, melting in the heat. At least I was in the shade, but it was still ridiculously hot. Luckily my mother in law came to help me and I got to take a ride to a deli for a half hour to escape from the heat.

So I’m at 22 weeks pregnant, almost 23. Time is flying and baby is certainly growing. I go back to the doctor tomorrow to get another ultrasound because baby was sitting on her/his right foot. A good excuse to see baby again, I think!

What’s new this week?

Food: Yes, still eating the same dang breakfast. Also enjoying fruit lots throughout the day. Other things I’m enjoying: pecorino romano grated cheese, mozzarella, seltzer, half caf iced coffees. I’m finding that I am eating a normal size dinner but I feel RIDICULOUSLY full after it. I need to start eating smaller meals for dinner and maybe have a snack at night. The heat makes me really not want to eat, but obviously I am. I also found out I really like the dark chocolate & cherry KIND bars. Besides that food has been okay. I’m kind of back to the place where I’m not loving anything, but just liking food.

Clothes: 100% into maternity pants. Mostly into maternity tops but I can still fit into longer, looser tops. I also bought a bunch of new workout tops in a larger size because I couldn’t take the tightness anymore. I have had great lucky from ASOS maternity, Gilt Groupe, Gap and Old Navy.

Exercise: Still going great. I ran a 5k this weekend and am still running 3 times a week. I’ve moved to lighter weights (from 3-10 pounds) and this past week really enjoyed going for a walks when it wasn’t a run day. This morning I did Jillian Michael’s DVD No More Trouble Zones. I have really enjoyed staying active so far and hope to continue! I think it’s why I feel so good! (Besides occasional heartburn.)

Movement: This baby is ACTIVE! The baby moves in the morning, whenever I eat, and right before I go to bed. I think it’s so sweet and I love letting Danny feel. He says “woah” every time. It’s funny. My belly has definitely grown and I even had my first stranger ask when I’m due today!

Other Thoughts: I still feel really good. I’ve had minimal aches and pains. Heart burn seems to be hanging out a little while after dinner but then eventually goes away. I feel like my body is adapting really weel so bad and I’m proud. I also think it’s funny/annoying that some people treat pregnant woman like they are broken. Like they can’t believe you’re out functioning in the world, just because you’re pregnant. It’s like as usual here folks (plus a couple weekly naps!)

Everytime I see a baby I can’t believe that is going to be us in 4 short months! I’m so psyched…yet nervous. It’s been just Danny and I for 9 years, so we’re definitly ready but we know life is about to change, but it’s certainly for the better! :) Also I’m a little nervous I’ve done NO reading except for Babble and blogs. I’ll get to it..eventually!

I’m off to do some relaxing! Have a wonderful rest of the day!

Keep workin’ out, girl! Neveryoumind the funny looks. I taught group fitness and trained my clients up until a week before my daughter was born. Being active was the best thing I could have done for her and for me. Makes it easy to take the weight off post-preggo. Suggestion: Find a prenatal yoga class! It helps in those last few weeks especially!

I think it is great you are still moving and loving it. I too love kind bars. All of them actually, but dark chocolate and cherry are my favorite.

Hi Nicole,
Love your blog, you look amazing for 22weeks pregnant. You are an inspiration, keep working out! I would like to ask you if you use stevia while pregnant. Is it safe?I use it often but somewhere read that we should avoid it while pregnant or trying to conceive.

I enjoy reading your pregnancy update my friend. Movements of the baby are really amazing. In fact, when I was pregnant I enjoyed a lot when my angel moved inside my womb.

Hi Nicole, When you get around to reading, “The Thinking Woman’s Guide to a Better Birth” is a good one. I’m a former home-birth midwife here in Washington State where we have a pretty good system for midwives. I know it’s different in NYC. Feel free to contact me if you have questions about your care. I don’t know if you have a doctor or midwife, but either way, you have to do your own research and look out for your interests. Many doctors are too interventionist, some home-birth midwives don’t do adequate risk screening and transfer.
