And a Happy New Year to YOU!

by Nicole on January 1, 2010

Happy New Year! I hope your 2010 started with a bang! We had a very, very, comfy New Year’s Eve, and it’s a good thing because Danny wasn’t feeling well after he got home from work. So instead of braving it in the cold, we stayed in our comfy home.

So we broke out some champagne and flutes we received as a wedding present.

This was before Danny unwrapped it and it flew off as soon as he took the wire thing off. Good thing that 1. it was pointed away from him and 2. it didn’t hit anything. It did soak our entire kitchen including sink, cabinets, fridge and floor. Literally dripping everywhere.

Danny thought it would be funny to write this in our bread before it sat to rise:

We also had some appetizers. Some cheese, olives, bread and hummus. (and carrots.)

For dinner I made gnocchi with garlic and oil and balsamic chicken.
To make the garlic and oil:

  • cut up 3 cloves of garlic and a bit of onion
  • get a small saucepan and put 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil and put the garlic and onion in it. Brown the garlic and onion. Add a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Add 1 tsp of parsley.
  • After you boil your gnocchi (or pasta) save about 1 cup of the pasta water and add it to the saucepan. Cook on low together for about 5 minutes and serve over pasta.

It doesn’t look that pretty but it was SO good.

We had a fun night just the two of us. This is the only picture I was allowed to put up because Danny was sick.

Happy New Year. Thank you to all my blog readers, family and friends that have joined me on this little site. I have had so much fun documenting and writing about all the things I love to cook, cake and eat. I can’t wait to continue it in 2010! I hope you will continue to make good choices with me throughout this new year. Here’s to a happy and healthy start!
