Massage Anyone?

by Nicole on July 1, 2011

Happy Friday and Happy 4th of July weekend! I hope you all have exciting plans this weekend, which for me means sitting on the beach in Jersey the entire time.

Today is the first day I don’t have loads of plans all week. I’m going to take the day to cook and bake some things for the weekend. I still am not sure what I’m going to bake, but definitely some bread and maybe some cake pops are on the list. Any one have any must makes for the weekend?

Yesterday I also had my first online workshop. I think it was a success! I wasn’t too nervous and think I got some informative points across. I did record it, so if anyone is interested in hearing the recording or seeing the slide show, let me know!

After I got home from the beach yesterday I had to eat dinner early so I would be fully ready for my workshop. I made some sweet potato fries, mahi mahi and a massaged kale salad.

I haven’t had kale as a salad in a long time and honestly the last time I had it was out to eat. I liked it in the restaurant and I think it’s really because of the “massaged” part of the salad, which I know, sounds weird.

Kale is great because its high in anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer nutrients. It’s a great source of vitamin K (key nutrient for helping regulate our body’s inflammatory process) and it supports our body’s in detoxification. Kale is also high in vitamin A and C, and a reputable source of calcium as well.

So why should we take the time to massage kale? The massaging action breaks down the cell walls and makes the kale less tough. By breaking the kale away from it’s stem and then massaging it in some olive oil and/or salad dressing, it is delicious!

Don’t be afraid to get your hands in there and massage away! It makes all the difference!

blurry, but you can see my plate

Have a wonderful 3 day weekend!

Ooohhh I love Kale but must admit it is a bit tough. I’ve added it to soup and rice to cure that. I never heard of the Kale Massage. Time to try it fresh!

Have a great 4th

I would love to hear more about your online workshop! I am really interested in and considering getting some sort of nutrition certificate as I incredibly passionate about food (& fitness too)! I am curious to know why you choose IIN? or any other thoughts for that matter!

Great post..I love my greens!! Happy Saturday!

You can do massage at your home everywhere you want but there are some exceptions to be considered especially those pregnant and sick. There is an specialization regarding on their health issues.
