Weekend Update and TJ Finds!

by Nicole on February 27, 2011

Good morning! I hope your weekend was filled with good eats, treats and some strong coffee…if that’s your thing…because we all know it’s certainly mine!

This past weekend we visited more open houses and I think we *may* have found one we like. I don’t want to jinx anything, but we are going back today, I’ll keep you all posted. In the mean time, anyone know anyone who would love a really nice 2 bedroom co-op 20 minutes from the city?? It’s going for a great price! ;)

We have been trying to make little improvements to our apartment like de-cluttering, filling totally empty spaces, organizing and just finishing things that have been left undone for 3 years. It’s nothing major, but spending a couple of extra bucks will make a difference in the showing of our apartment. This is something people don’t realize..hence the popcorn kernels all over the kitchen yesterday. People, when showing your house to sell it, CLEAN UP! And the funny (or not so funny part is…) these are houses NOT cheap, rather quite expensive! Okay, end rant.

We picked up the table below at Home Goods yesterday. They have so much good stuff (hit or miss though) I need to shop there more. It fits perfectly under this mirror my in-laws got us. It’s one of my favorite things in our apartment. If we weren’t moving, I’d move the mirror down a couple of inches, but it’s staying like this for now. The mirror has been living in that spot for 2 years.

Friday I went to Trader Joe’s in between all of the rain. I met a friend there and gave her a mini tour of TJ’s. I just told her the stuff I love and gave her some tips. I love sharing new things I pick up, so here are my recent loves and finds!

Brown Rice Wraps: These are great for a light wrap. They do crack easily, but it doesn’t bother me. These taste like brown rice (obviously) so they may seem weird at first. I love brown rice, so these are a love for me.

Seaweed Snacks: I’ve been seeing these all around the blog world, but I could never find them. Finally I saw a lady with literally 20 in her cart, so I asked and she answered. Now I know what they are and also LOVE them. They taste like crispy, salty seaweed. If you love sushi, you will love this. If you hate sushi/seaweed, steer clear from these. They are only 30 calories for half the bag, so you won’t feel bad taking down the entire bag at once.

Freeze Dried Blueberries and Strawberries: These are amazing. They are freeze dried with no additional ingredients added. I love putting these in my granola bars or on top of yogurt. They add a nice crunch, while still tasting like fruit. Try using them in these oat bars!

I’m off to hot yoga to get a good stretch and sweat in! Have a great Sunday!

Do you shop at Home Goods? Any new food finds to share?

I love those seaweed snacks but haven’t tried the TJ version yet! I also haven’t seen those Brown Rice Tortillas. Are they 100% brown rice?
