Want to Accomplish Something? Write it down!

Are you a card person??? I am. My mom buys cards for every occasion and just because and she really instilled in me a love for cards. I could go to CVS or any Hallmark store and sit there for hours and just read through cards. I could spend half my paycheck on cards.....ask Danny. So when I had to pick out cards for my cousins who just graduated high school I picked up 10 more also I was excited. I found the card above and below, which I loved so much I had to take pictures of them. They are so inspirational.
I hope my cousins love them as much as I did, but probably not because they are boys. haha
I basically buy cards for any reason and every reason. I would rather have a card over a present sometimes. Now Danny just buys me cards for every occasion due to one specific incident where there was no card Valentine's Day 2009 but I don't remember when that was. Basically cards are important to me for many reasons, telling someone how I feel or how much I appreciate them or just sending a simple hello to let them know I'm thinking of them.

Anyways, to recap the weekend...we went to our first farmers market in Queens. It was small, but still awesome. Not far from the city as you can see.
Then we had my cousins, Michael and Vincent's graduation party. I love, love, love spending time with my family. I never laugh more than when I'm with them.
My cousins (and sister and Danny too)

And photo shoot continued...good times.

On another note... do you ever get a feeling of I just want it all right now?? I am pretty obsessive good at planning and taking steps to get the things I want, whether it be a car, house, shoes, bag, whatever. I always try to look to the future to set goals. Danny and I spend a lot of time budgeting and talking about what we would like our future to look like. However, sometimes, and I think it has to do with our generation having SO MUCH instant gratification, I get frustrated and just want things right now, mainly a house. So last week when I was having a down moment after leaving a family dinner and wishing I had a backyard I decided to make a list of all our accomplishments in the past 5 years. (Danny and I have been together for 6.5 years, but when we were in college we didn't accomplish much...haha).

After seeing all the things we have accomplished in the past 5 years, it made us feel really good about where we are right now. We have (in no particular order) bought a co-op (condo), paid for a large portion of our very big in all ways wedding, taken 6 trips outside the U.S., I got my Masters Degree, Danny got his Real Estate and soon to be broker's license, run 2 10k races, and many more. We wrote down our goals for the next 5 years. For some reason when you get your goals down on Hello Kitty paper they just seem even more real and reachable. I felt so much better after doing this and the pity party I was having certainly stopped.

Do you ever write down your accomplishments and/or goals? I highly, highly recommend it. The feelings of success will quickly follow!

I couldn't agree more. It is SO important to write your goals down. I like to write mine down and I look at them every single morning when I wake up!

I will often write down the goals I want to achieve in the future, but I've honestly never sat down and really surveyed the goals I've already accomplished. What a great idea! I have a tendency to downplay my successes, always feeling like I should be doing more more more. But I think that stopping to look back at how far I've come will really give me some perspective. Thanks for a great post!

Great advice and beautiful post! Recap where you have been in life and noting where you are headed is a vital part of success. Always making note of what you have learned along the way adds a bit of confidence to the journey.

I love cards. My mom is a cardy too. It seems like she always sends one "just because" on the days where I need a little boost. They really brighten my days. You've accomplished some amazing feats over the last five years. I've never thought of writing my accomplishments down. I think I'm going to do that and put it next to my computer for constant inspiration!
